Carlos Fernández, co-founder of the Association of Professional Fund Investors (APFI), has resigned from his role as head of fund selection of Inversis Banco, Citywire Global can exclusively reveal.

Speaking to Citywire Global, one of Spain's most renowned fund selectors confirmed he had left the firm to start a new project but declined to give further information on what that would be.

Fernández recently featured in Citywire's gallery of the most influential selectors in Spain.

It is not yet known who Inversis Banco has appointed to take on his role as head of its fund selection unit, a role which Fernández had held since 2009.

He was one of the founders of the Association of Professional Fund Investors (APFI) which was officially launched in November 2011.

The association is now formally established as a Swiss-based non-profit organisation, with headquarters in Geneva and aims to give a voice to professional fund selectors worldwide.

Inversis Banco covers both the institutional and retail markets, as well as offering discretionary management to HNWI and institutions.

It is the leading provider of fund and investment research for Empresa de Asesoramiento Financiero (EAFI), independent financial advisor approved and regulated by the Spanish financial supervisor.
