Citywire Zurich Fund Selector Forum 2013: line-up revealed

If you are a fund selector based in or around Zurich, we are inviting you to join your peers and a line-up of leading fund managers at the Citywire Zurich Forum.

This event will be held at the Park Hyatt on Tuesday 19th March 2013. Attendance is free of charge, but strictly limited to third-party fund selectors.

As always we are looking forward to a lively event covering an interesting mix of asset classes with top performing fund managers.

Workshop based sessions in small groups will be taking place with fund managers during the course of the morning. You will be provided with a personalised agenda detailing your individual schedule.

The event will also feature an interactive session with leading fund managers, including Tikehau Investment Management’s Etienne Gorgeon as well as Muzinich & Co’s Warren Hyland, who will discuss the development of European and EM credit markets, prospects for investors, and reveal strategies to tap opportunities in this asset class.

Leon Grenyer, Morgan Stanley Investment Management
High Yield Fixed Income

Leon Grenyer is the Head of the European High Yield fixed income team, a member of the Global High Yield senior strategy team and a senior member of the Global Credit team at Morgan Stanley. The fund Leon Grenyer will present seeks to provide an attractive rate of return through investments worldwide in lower rated and unrated fixed income securities.

UBS (Lux) Equity SICAV - Emerging Markets High Dividend

The UBS (Lux) Equity SICAV - Emerging Markets High Dividend Fund invests globally in high quality emerging markets companies that deliver high and sustainable dividends.

It offers a diversified portfolio of stocks as well as broad country, currency and sector allocations. Justin Wells will explain the fund's strategy of investing in high quality companies that are able to maintain high and sustainable dividend payments and offer strong fundamentals.

Piers Hillier, Kames Capital
Kames Global Equity Income

In this workshop the head of overseas equities at Kames, Piers Hillier, will discuss the Kames Global Equity Income fund, whose investment objective is to provide income and capital growth over the long term by investing in the global equities market.

The fund invests in a portfolio of global equity securities providing an above-average yield, i.e. a higher yield than the yield of the overall global equity market. Piers Hillier will illustrate the fund's high conviction investment approach and explain how he will bring the best of Kames' investment competences into his portfolio, focusing a smaller number of stocks which he expects will outperform the wider market.

Gabrielle Gourgey, MFS International
European Equities

Gabrielle Gourgey, investment officer and institutional equity portfolio manager of MFS Investment Management will answer in her workshop the question of whether investors should be allocating assets to European equities in these uncertain times of the European sovereign debt crisis?

Covering MFS European equities fund offerings (MFS Meridian Funds- European Smaller Companies Fund, MFS Meridian Funds- European Value Fund, MFS Meridian Funds- European Research Fund, MFS Meridian Funds- UK Equity Fund), Gabrielle will explain the benefits of taking a longer term view in European equities despite the European sovereign debt crisis.

Klaus Petersen, ValueInvest Asset Management
ValueInvest LUX Global and ValueInvest LUX Japan equity fund
Portfolio Manager Klaus Petersen will discuss the firm’s investment approach applied in the ValueInvest LUX Global and ValueInvest Japan equity funds. These funds invest in global, large-cap companies with high earnings stability and aims to generate long-term high absolute returns in combination with low risk.

Klaus Petersen will provide insight into how ValueInvest allocates risk premium to industries and companies based on its valuations of the underlying risk. He will also show how the portfolio is constructed with specific characteristics compared to the overall market.

Opportunities and risks in today’s credit environment

Parisian investment house Tikehau Investment Management will provide the European perspective as Etienne Gorgeon, the firm’s director of investments for managed funds dissects the market from high yield to cross-over credits.

Over an 16-year career Gorgeon has run investment grade, high yield and  absolute return portfolios at F&C and AXA IM before going on to serve as Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management’s fixed income CIO for four years.

Joining Gorgeon in the debate will be emerging market debt manager Warren Hyland.  With Schroders for over a decade, Hyland recently joined corporate credit specialists Muzinich & Co. to build out is EMD offering. Addressing volatility and liquidity issues Hyland will explain why EM corporate bonds are becoming an ever more important factor in asset allocation decisions.
