About Peter Pühringer

Based in Vienna, Peter Pühringer prefers to avoid the limelight but nevertheless enjoys a higher profile than many of his peers. Despite Mr Pühringer’s efforts to avoid publicity he is a major figure in the city’s cultural life and regularly appears in media lists of Austria’s wealthiest citizens. He has donated around €10 million of his fortune to pay for a new home for the Vienna Boys Choir and has also bought and extensively refurbished the city’s luxurious Coburg Palais hotel. The hotel gives him a base for his ISK Institute for Strategic Capital Market Research, an educational and financial consultancy organisation that provides the research and the researchers for his funds to draw on. In the rare interviews he has given, Pühringer has talked about his search for ‘truffle’ markets – those that not only offer attractive coupons but also the chance of reduced rates of interest and currency gain.
